This deal is ON!
If you have been giving it your all in the gym, relentlessly pounding the pavement or just working a bit too hard at your desk then this one’s for you.
With this GrooVee you get a consultation of up to 15 minutes PLUS a minimum of 30 minutes of sports or deep tissue massage, stretching and joint mobilisation that will be tailored to your needs. The massage is with Sharon Beckwith, a registered osteopath and the aim of treatment will be to help you recover from exercise, training and sporting events or to deal with non-sports related daily repetitive strains. It's focused, intensive and restorative.
You get to choose from 3 locations to have your massage: the busy Tarka Clinic in Barnstaple, the centrally located Body Aware Pilates Studio in Ilfracombe or Sharon’s quiet homebased treatment room in Combe Martin. All 3 locations offer daytime and evening appointments up to 7pm through the week and Saturday mornings in Barnstaple. If you can't fit it in this November or you want to give it as a Christmas present you can claim it as a gift voucher that will be valid until the end of January 2020 (but note that no refunds will be available after the end of the redemption period i.e. after 30 November). Arranging your appointment couldn’t be easier – simply book online or call/message Sharon directly. There is free on-street parking just outside of Sharon’s house in Combe Martin, nearby metered parking on Portland Street just a minute or two’s walk from the Ilfracombe venue and pay-and-display parking at the Cattle Market in Barnstaple just a couple of minutes walk from the Tarka clinic.
Whichever venue you choose you will get the same professional level of treatment. Sharon is a fully registered and practising osteopath but continues to offer massage alongside osteopathy so that she can accommodate a wide range of clients’ needs, preferences and budgets. She has level 3 ITEC qualifications in holistic and sports massage as well as a degree in osteopathic medicine which delves deeper into biomechanics, treatment of injuries and musculoskeletal complaints. She is also trained in Western Medical Acupuncture, used by many osteopaths, physios and even some GPs to help improve recovery and healing (she may recommend this for future appointments or even use as extra to the massage if she deems that it would be useful and if you want to give it a go).
The initial consultation involves you filling out a brief form and then Sharon will ask you about any relevant medical conditions and injuries. She will quiz you a little on lifestyle and regular activities - be that exercise and sports related or work, family or leisure related. This part won’t last more than 10-15 minutes. Basically she will want to find out how you look after your body (or not!) and what stresses and strains it is subject to. She will get as much input from you as possible about any pains, strains or weaknesses you’re aware of then will apply the biomechanical knowledge and experience she has gained over the last 9 years to put to together a treatment plan for your massage that day. She will explain what she plans to do and get your feedback before starting and will check-in with you continually as she treats. She can also advise on future management including pre- and post- sporting treatments, maintenance treatments, stretching, strengthening and diet. You may be asked to remove some clothing depending on the areas to be treated but towels will be provided. It’s not unusual to be asked to undress down to your underwear so do come prepared! If you’d prefer not to then Sharon will do her best to find a work-around.
Sharon’s approach is firm and thorough but instead of the common ‘no pain no gain’ approach to sports massage she has a more compassionate and considerate style!
