You'll get a lovely warm welcome from Sarah. She's such an easy going, open kind of person that you'll quickly feel as if you've known her for years .The day starts with Tea/Coffee with your fellow students in the light and airy purpose built craft studio before you sit round the lovely big craft table. The morning will be spent learning about each of the items you will be making including equipment needed, ingredients, techniques and top tips for making the best products for your skin. You will get a chance to smell all of the Clovelly Soap Company lovely soaps and essential oils to give you some inspiration for your own making later in the day. You'll stop for lunch at around 12.30pm with your fellow learners - a home baked (and nice and crispy on the outside) jacket potato with your choice of filling made by Sarah's husband Casie (yes, this truly is a family run studio), which you'll have together on one of the larger tables in the studio- it's a friendly and fun lunch. You'll then get started making a batch of soap in pairs using Nourishing oils, Essential oils and a large selection of petals & other botanicals. You will then move on to make a large glass candle using colours & essential oils to create an aromatherapy treat. Then you will make a luxurious body moisturiser using a selection of oils, butters and waxes to blend a cream with your own blend of lovely scents. Finally you will learn how simple it is to make gorgeous aromatherapy bath salts using petals, essential oils and different salts. The day will be finished off with homemade cake and tea/coffee before you take home all your lovely handmade goodies as well as a discount voucher to use on a Rowan Tree Studio course in the future should you wish to further your learning in any of the areas.
I loved Sarah's workshops and was seriously impressed with the whole set up of the Rowan Tree Studio and Sarah's approach to her work there. It's a beautiful space , and the gorgeous scents as you walk into the building from the soap and body product making are wonderfully uplifting. It's really well equipped, and Sarah's experience of running classes and workshops is totally clear. She's passionate about sharing the knowledge that she had passed down to her from her mum and her grandma, and she has developed at The Clovelly Soap Company and is a clear and capable communicator as well as being infinitely patient, loving and kind. The food and company were great too with a constant supply of tea and coffee to make us really feel at home. I can't wait to do more!
