Sea Breeze Retreat is located in beautiful Mortehoe just outside Woolacombe and you can't help but gawp at the stunning views from the adjacent private car park which is for customers only and free to use. Carol welcomes you with the offer of a cup of tea or water and makes you feel completely at home. Over the winter months she uses her ground floor treatment room which has a wonderful log burner in to help keep you nice and cosy - in summer she moves upstairs where the room is light and airy. After a brief consultation to check any medical conditions Carol will ask you to choose which face mask you want her to use and which moisturiser you would like applied at the end of the treatment and whether you'd prefer a neck and shoulder massage or foot and lower leg one so as not to disturb you throughout. I plumped for the rose moisture plus with added hydration and the foot massage as I'd been on my feet all day and I tend towards dry skin. Carol then describes what she will be doing over the next hour - it sounded dreamy!
Now I've had a fair few massages and facials in my time, but this is the first one where someone has had the foresight to put an electric blanket on the bed - it sounds so simple, and indeed it is, but it made such a difference! I normally find that even in what feels like a warm room to begin with, as you relax and lie so still you don't half get chilly - not here - this was just perfect. Once you are comfortable on the bed with a lovely soft blanket over you Carol starts by placing warm towels on your face - she soaks these in an hydrating essence to aid exfoliation and cleansing - another new one on me. Then an exfoliating cleanse containing tahini, a rose mist spray followed by a face and neck massage with balancing facial oil - this smelled absolutely delicious! More hot towels before a face mask and a herbal recovery gel eyepatch - these need about 10 minutes to work so Carol applies a lip balm to stop your lips drying out - yet another touch that I hadn't experienced before. Now it's time for your massage - at last my feet were getting a bit of the action and they were more than pleased!
When the 10 minutes is up it's more hot towels to remove the mask followed by a balancing rose mist, a layer of herbal recovery gel and finally the moisturiser that you chose at the beginning. All the products smell and feel amazing and you can just sense the natural quality of them. My skin felt fantastic after but it was the next day that I really noticed the difference - looking in the mirror in the morning I actually surprised myself - I looked really refreshed and definitely glowing.
