If you like to treat yourself, a friend or loved one to an hour of pampering in lovely surroundings then this one's for you!
With this GrooVee you get a choice of three, hour long therapies with highly experienced Carol of Seabreeze Retreat in Morthoe, Woolacombe - choose from a deep tissue massage, a hot stone massage or an organic skincare facial.
Sea Breeze Retreat is located in beautiful Mortehoe just outside Woolacombe and you can't help but gawp at the stunning views from the adjacent private car park which is for customers only and free to use. Carol welcomes you with the offer of a cup of tea or water and makes you feel completely at home. Over the winter months she uses her ground floor treatment room which has a wonderful log burner in to help keep you nice and cosy - in summer she moves upstairs where the room is light and airy. As I have previously enjoyed one of her gorgeous organic facials (more about that later) and was aching all over from spending 2 days painting our lounge, I plumped for the deep tissue massage out of the three options. Deep tissue massage manipulates the soft tissues of the body, promotes suppleness, improves circulation and reduces stress.
After a brief consultation to check any medical conditions Carol will ask you which type of oil you would prefer for your massage - all her oils are organic and in a sweet almond base oil. I chose the muscle and joint one containing camphor and eucalyptus for my aches and pains but there were also relaxing, pure pleasure, skin-nourishing and anti-cellulite options too. Then Carol will ask you to undress to your underwear, whist she leaves the room, and lay face down on her heated massage bed with a towel over you. Carol is really keen to get feedback throughout the massage which instantly makes you feel comfortable and in control of how much pressure is being applied and where. However she seems to know instinctively what will work and where to work and has brilliantly strong hands - I completely relaxed and let her do her thing. She starts with the back and shoulders then moves onto the arms, backs of legs, feet, front of legs and arms and finishes with the neck and head. It was truly wonderful and any thoughts of a paint roller were a distant memory!
If you prefer a lighter touch but still want to relieve your aches and pains then the hot stone massage would be the one to go for. It's a similar process but Carol uses heated basalt stones that penetrate deep into the muscle tissue without requiring as much pressure. It's also deeply relaxing and rejuvenating.
For the organic skincare facial Carol uses Australian Jurlique products which are 100% organic and contain a potent fusion of active herbal ingredients to gently bring out the natural radiance of your skin. These products are suitable for all skin types including very sensitive and are not tested on animals and contain no animal content. Before she starts Carol will ask you to choose which face mask you want her to use and which moisturiser you would like applied at the end of the treatment and whether you'd prefer a neck and shoulder massage or foot and lower leg one so as not to disturb you throughout.
Once you are comfortable on the bed with a lovely soft blanket over you Carol starts by placing warm towels on your face - she soaks these in an hydrating essence to aid exfoliation and cleansing - another new one on me. Then an exfoliating cleanse containing tahini, a rose mist spray followed by a face and neck massage with balancing facial oil - this smelled absolutely delicious! More hot towels before a face mask and a herbal recovery gel eyepatch - these need about 10 minutes to work so Carol applies a lip balm to stop your lips drying out - now it's time for your massage.
When the 10 minutes is up it's more hot towels to remove the mask followed by a balancing rose mist, a layer of herbal recovery gel and finally the moisturiser that you chose at the beginning. All the products smell and feel amazing and you can just sense the natural quality of them.
For each of the treatments you should allow an extra 20 minutes for the consultation and give yourself time to come round after - there's no rush. All three options are equally wonderful and make this offer such a great deal as you don't have to choose until you book your appointment, and if you're buying as a gift (great for Valentine's or Mother's Day) then you know that there's something to please everyone here!
